| Maria Saperstein is an award-winning Certified Interior Designer who has been practicing residential design in the Long Island area since 1990. She is also a teacher, columnist and lecturer, and has been featured on Home and Garden Television (HGTV) on the series If Walls Could Talk. Maria’s passion for color and her impeccable style and good taste, combined with extensive expertise, has put her in significant demand on both the North and South shores of the Island.
Maria enjoys the diversity, charm and enchantment of Long Island homes, as well as the eclectic nature of the structures. Whether it is a turn-of-the-century Victorian or a newly built Colonial, she involves herself thoroughly in the project. As a designer, she strives to ascertain the personality of her clients, holding to the belief that it is of great importance to become acquainted with the homeowners to determine what attracted them to a particular location or home, and what their design ideas involve. A design project can only be a success, Maria believes, if the designer has a thorough understanding of the clients’ needs, goals and budget. Ultimately, a clients’ homes should reflect their individuality. Armed with a team of skilled and experienced employees, Maria has completed numerous homes over the past 16 years. To date, her career includes the ownership and operation of two design centers, as well as freelancing for major furniture galleries and window treatment retailers. A firm believer in community service, Maria has chosen to open her own home for house and garden tours as a fundraiser for the Bayport/Blue Point Historical Society and the Blue Point Garden Club. Recognizing and respecting senior citizens needs, she offers free annual tours to the DSC of the Massapequa/Seaford Chapter. One of her most enthusiastic and rewarding accomplishments is the stage design for the annual production of the local church’s Christmas show Bethlehem Morning, to which she volunteers her talents. Maria is a professional member of the Association of Interior Designers (ASID), Chamber of Commerce, and local women’s groups. |
